This girl! I mean if you don’t know the name Britt Herbots, you need to just do a bit of snooping on the internet. One of the youngest studs making a name for herself in Europe right now.

But, she’s hilarious. I mean I remember in Mulhouse at 9am trainings she would come to the gym with the energy of a kid on Christmas day, meanwhile I was all crusty and cranky from having to wake up early. Bless your enthusiasm Britt.

So coming to Novara was always on the cards, but there were a few complications to say the least! Novara has a ‘covid manager’ on staff who is appointed just to keep the players safe! Thats incredible, and totally necessary considering Italy was the first to shut down last season. It was encouraging to see, but it meant we had to go through a few people to finally get the ok to film.

And film we did! She showed me all around her apartment, with an extra room for the visitors she can never have because of current quarantine rules, her pup and his toy collection, and an almost empty fridge (minus some redbull for pre-match). Later, we talked on the podcast (in my horrendous neon green airbnb) about dealing with the fall out of transferring to the local rival team, Novara, from Busto.

And then, just as I was supposed to come film training, a few positive test results came back so everything went on pause. Luckily she came back negative a few days later and we had a chance to hang out one last time and film something special. All in all, a beautiful few days among the autumn leaves in Novara with my friend, Spider Monkey! (You’ll have to listen to the podcast for that story…)

So Britt and I played together in Mulhouse, which is where she cemented herself as an up and coming star on the European volleyball scene by earning MVP of the French league, and also earned herself the nickname 'Spider Monkey' from myself and our teammate Lexi.
